Eastern Butcher Block

Last night while trying to kill some time before the Smoking Popes show I was wondering around the Lincoln square area. I saw a smoked meat/butcher shop so I decided to check it out because who doesn't like large slabs of smoked, cured, or raw animal? The Butcher looked like a very unfriendly German which turned out to be completely opposite. In fact he was Austrian and extremely outgoing. He was telling me how he makes his sausage and what kind of salt that doesn't dry out the meat as fast. We talked about local Chicago politics including what famous politicians buy sausage right there in that small shop. Random meetings with really interesting people can really make up for a bad work day and in fact that 30 minute conversation made me forget how badly I wanted to quit my job today!
